The Southern Belle was The Kansas City Southern Railway's overnight luxury train between Kansas City and New Orleans. Starting service in 1940, the train was equipped with lightweight cars and powered by a pair of EMD's new E6A units, one for each direction on the route. In 1949, the new EMD E8s were added to the trains. Here we see a lashup of E8A & B units, modern interiors of cars made by ACF, and sleepers by Pullman-Standard. Note the printing mis-register on the one reverse card side, a feature common to all of the cards in my Southern Belle set.
