Frankfort, Kentucky

This postcard is a real treat and was published shortly after the station was built in 1908. The Frankfort Union Station was constructed by the Louisville & Nashville Railroad and was also used by the Chesapeake & Ohio, Frankfort & Cincinnati, and the Lexington & Frankfort railroads. The 515 foot long Arsenal Hill tunnel, seen in the distance, was built in 1850, and was the first railroad tunnel built in Kentucky as well as the first west of the Appalachian Mountains.
