Plainfield, Connecticut

This circa 1907 postcard view shows the station in Plainfield, Connecticut. The station was serviced by two branches of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad with one branch running East-West between  Hartford, Connecticut and Providence, Rhode Island, and with the North-South branch running between Groton, Connecticut and Worcester, Massachusetts. Here we can see where the two lines crossed and the station that served them both. Today the area is serviced by the freight-only Providence & Worcester Railroad.
