Rockingham Junction, New Hampshire

The Boston & Maine station at Rockingham Junction, bordered by Newmarket and Newfields, New Hampshire, is seen in this circa 1906 postcard. Constructed around 1890, the station served both the Portsmouth Branch running east and west and the Western Division mainline running north and south. The R.E. Graves restaurant was part of the station building and was also known as the Rockingham Cafe. The station was finally closed in 1979. Note the two locomotives, left and right, from the low marker light years. The 'fish-eye' look, according to a photographer who saw the postcard, explained that the camera's bellows were set in a certain way in order to achieve the effect; the 'fish-eye' lens was still off in the future.
