The "West Point Route" was the name given to two separate but jointly operating railroads, the Atlanta and West Point Railroad and the Western Railway of Alabama. The two lines connected Augusta, Georgia and Selma, Alabama. From an earlier part of the two railroad's history, they were subsidiaries of the Louisville & Nashville and Atlantic Coast Line until the 1980s. This railroad-issued 1907 view is of the dining room portion of the private car "Fritzi Scheff", complete with a piano for the entertainment of guests. The car was owned by the famous opera singer of the same name born in 1879 in Vienna and who died in New York City in 1954.
