Ansonia, Connecticut

In this circa 1912  scene from a town where I once lived, passengers wait for a train at the New York, New Haven & Hartford station in Ansonia, Connecticut. The Great Naugatuck River Flood of 1955 swept the station, and parts of the Farel Corporation's factory buildings away. The rear of one of the factory structures is right behind the station. This solid brick depot was later replaced by an open architecture pathetique shelter treating passengers to arctic blasts in the New England winters.
