Pompton Lakes, New Jersey

This circa 1910 view gives us a good view of the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railroad station in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. Built in 1871, Tightly fit between the street and the tracks, the card shows  freight and passengers waiting to arrive at their destinations. The station was replaced in later years by a brick structure in 1927. Note the advertising poster for Babbitt's Soap, later to be known as 'Babb-O Soap'. Posters like these were frequently seen on station exterior walls in the area over the years.

  1. I think this is on the NYS&W. The Ponpton-Riverdale station is on the Greenwood.
