In these circa 1908 cards, we see conventional side-rod engines hauling log trains to the mill. The first card shows an oil-fired locomotive with a long haul of logs loaded onto flat cars.
The scene below is of a log dump where logs are rolled off the cars and into a holding area prior to being pulled into a sawmill. The equipment following this wood-burning engine were "disconnect" logging trucks. In the distance are the masts of sailing ships, probably for use in the lumber trade.
