Silvis, Illinois Yards

In this well-worn circa 1907 card, the Rocky Mountain Limited is pulling through the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railroad's yard in Silvis, Illinois. Note the loaded gondola cars to the right. The Rocky Mountain Limited had a 28 hour run from Chicago to Denver. The road replaced the earlier steam power on the Limited with the more powerful 4-8-2 "Mountain" type locomotives.
