Butler, New Jersey was an important stop on the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railroad. In this circa 1910 scene, passengers wait for the next train outside of the long station, built in 1872, with a freight and baggage section including a loading dock at the left end. Note the advertising posters on the sides of the station at the right end, a common practice found on area stations at the time.
