Chicago, Milwaukee & North Shore Railroad Interurbans

This four-car train is made up of the famous Chicago, Milwaukee & North Shore Railroad interurbans, built by the Cincinnati Car Company, as seen in this circa photochrome postcard. The photograph is probably from the 1950s. Originally the Chicago & Milwaukee Railroad, that road was bought and reorganized as the CM&NS in 1916. The line operated at speeds of up to 80 mph between downtown Chicago and Milwaukee, but shut down operations forever in 1963 bringing an end to America's Great Interurban Era.
